Professional Counselling for the Community

FACE TO FACE & ONLINE COUNSELLING SERVICE

Our vision is to help those who struggle with emotional and mental health difficulties; reaching out to our community with professional and caring help. To enable those who are battling with life’s issues to lead more fulfilling lives.

Our counsellors have professional counselling qualifications and have a wealth of experience. They are under regular professional supervision and are committed to on-going professional development, keeping up with current issues and government requirements.

All our counsellors adhere to the ACC (Association of Christian Counsellors) and/or BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) Code of Ethics and Practice. These are available to view at: bacp.co.uk and acc-uk.org

We are not part of the NHS and do not receive any funding from the government. Our counsellors offer their services at reduced rates and Caterham Community Church supports our vision. We also rely on donations, to enable us to offer this service at subsidised rates. All donations are gratefully received.

Our fees are on a sliding scale based on income and circumstances.

A Caring Place

Most of us at some point in life, reach a time when we find ourselves unable to solve personal problems on our own. Caterham Counselling Centre is a caring place. We offer a confidential service by counsellors who will listen without judging. We seek to give people the time, care, support and counsel to help them through healing and recovery. We all deserve to live healthy, significant lives as we relate to others in meaningful ways.

There are many definitions of counselling. One simple version is that counselling is a working relationship in which you are helped to explore and manage what is happening in your life. The overall aim of counselling is to provide an opportunity for you to work towards a more satisfying and resourceful experience of life. Naturally, each person’s needs are different.

Our counselling approach is integrative as we seek to keep our clients best interests at heart. This means that we offer a variety of counselling styles and models to suit individual needs.

Covid-19 Notice: Following the pandemic, we are running an online and in person service. If you are suffering from anxiety and need support, or if you have recently lost a loved one, please call 07810 187 100.

“This is so helpful. We feel stronger, more confident and more joyful.”

“My daughter is going from strength to strength. Without your help it may have been a different story.”

Family Counselling offers a non-threatening environment to discuss issues affecting children, teenagers and/or the whole family.

Using games, creative activities, puppets, and miniature world toys we will:

  • Talk about feelings
  • Look at difficulties
  • Identify changes that need to be made
  • Explore options
  • Develop coping strategies
  • Build self-worth
  • Strengthen relationships

All activities will be age appropriate and tailor made to your needs and you won’t have to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable.

The family group can be any size, with a minimum of one adult and one child/teenager.

The family counsellor, Sue Watson, has many years’ experience of working with adults and children of all ages. She is committed to creating a safe environment for you to move towards a brighter future.

Our fees are on a sliding scale based on income.
